UNIVERSITY OF KERALA – PRESCRIBED FORMAT OF Ph.D. THESIS

I. PHYSICAL FORMAT

  • Printing shall be done on both sides of the paper.
  • Thesis shall be hard bound
  • University emblem/ any other emblem or advertisement of any kind shall NOT be printed on the cover page of the thesis.
  • Photographs or sketches are not allowed on the cover page of the thesis
  • Only A4 size paper shall be used in the
  • The maximum number of pages shall not exceed 500 (including Citation and Appendices)
  • The thesis shall be in a single volume
  • Do not use cover flaps, over the top of the original hard bound cover page
  • Plastic inter layer sheets shall not be used inside the thesis (After the title pages/ before certificate pages/ just before each chapters/ just before the photographs, ).
  • Shall submit FOUR hard bound copies and two CDs (soft copy) of the thesis
  • The 2 CDs shall be inserted in 2 eco-friendly CD pouches
  • The content in the CDs and the hard copy shall be the same

II. TITLE PAGE/COVER PAGE  

  • Title of the thesis: Title shall be exactly the same as in the Registration order/Title modification order (whichever is applicable)
  • Thesis submitted to the University of Kerala, for the award of the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in…………………… (subject concerned)
  • Name of the Research Scholar as in the qualifying certificate (PG certificate)
  • Research Centre (Name of Research Center)
  • Centers other than University teaching departments shall include “Research Centre, University of Kerala”
  • University departments shall print as Department of ———, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram
  • Year and Month of Submission
  • If thesis is submitted after Correction/Modification/Revision, the resubmitted thesis shall have the Year and Month of resubmission

III. DECLARATION

  I hereby declare that the Ph.D. thesis titled ………………… is an independent work carried out by me and it has not been submitted anywhere else for the award of any other degree/diploma or title of the University or any other Institution.

X. BODY OF THE THESIS  

  • Spacing between lines shall be 1.5
  • Margin space – The text shall have a margin of 2.5 cm from the left, 1.5cm from the right, the top & the bottom of the page
  • Font type and size (preferably Times New Roman- 12 font size)
  • Font type shall be easily readable to the examiner
  • Larger font size can be used in the case of Headings/Titles
  • Foot notes are not allowed
